Duplication: Finding the Unicorn of Network Marketing


Hey everybody. Eric Worre here. Welcome to Network Marketing Pro and today I want to talk to you about duplication because
it’s an elusive beast. It’s like a unicorn that’s dancing through the woods.
You’ve heard that maybe it’s real, but you’ve never seen it. This mythical
creature. Most people really struggle with duplication. I know I did. When I
first got involved in Network Marketing duplication was tough. Because I’d bring
in a group of people, I’d help them bring in a group of people, but once it would
get up to like 20 or 30 builders or so, it crashed back down in itself. And I
thought that once you build something in Network Marketing you build it and it’s
forever. I found out that that’s not true. In my first three years in Network
Marketing, I rebuilt my team seven times. I didn’t have duplication. I had addition
and subtraction. I’d bring somebody in, I’d lose somebody. They’d bring somebody in, they’d lose somebody. I’d bring in people and they would have all this
potential and they just lay there. Looking at me like uhh. I’m like oh come on do something. You know what to do you’re grown adults and they looked like they
were half-dead. These zombie people and it was so
frustrating to try and understand that duplication
even exists because I loved when you paint the picture. You draw the circle
and you bring in five people and they bring in five and they bring in five and
pretty soon you dominate the world. It just never seemed to worked out that way. You know where it would grow like this. Never worked out that way for me. I’d recruit
twenty. They’d recruit two. Those people would recruit one. I mean mine
was up like this. I didn’t have this residual income. I didn’t have this
business while I slept. I did it all. I did it all and I gotta tell you I was
pretty frustrated. Towards the end of those three years, I started thinking
maybe Network Marketing wasn’t for me. Maybe this just isn’t for me because I
can’t get, maybe I’m not a good enough leader. Maybe I don’t have enough vision.
Maybe I don’t know the right people, but this just doesn’t seem to be working out.
I’m bringing people in; they’re blaming me when they leave.
I’m blaming myself when they leave. I got this revolving door of people. I don’t
have residual income at all. It’s just a job. Network Marketing to me for the first three years was just a job. And once I
decided, I talked about this in the Go Pro book, but once I finally decided to walk
away from different mindsets and really consider myself as a professional and in
a career in Network Marketing then I I went to work. It’s almost like an
investigative journalist. I was driving around, flying around, calling
everybody, talking to the strongest leaders I knew in the Network Marketing
profession to ask them how were they creating duplication. What were they
doing that was causing because it was so frustrating to watch these people that
did not even know what I knew in the Network Marketing business, but they had
tons of duplication. It’s crazy. These Forrest Gumps, you know, they
seemed like Forrest Gumps. They didn’t know anything, but they had groups of
thousands and thousands of people and I had all this knowledge over the course
of three years and I had virtually zero duplication. So what was wrong with me?
Well once I decided to really Go Pro and learn what the top people in our
profession do, I found the answer. And not only did I find it, I tested it. And all
of a sudden I went from spinning plates and rebuilding my team to my team all of
a sudden really took off. And I’ve grown an organization in 60 different
countries around the world. Hundreds of thousands of people. Over half a million
people in my downline over the course of my career and I will tell you in that
process that there are clues and there are secrets in order to be able to
create duplication number one and retention number two.
Duplication number one and retention number two. Because you could duplicate
like crazy, but if you don’t have retention, you’re like you’ve got a
bucket with a big hole in it. You can pour as much water in there as you
want, but if it’s flowing out as fast as as it’s coming in, you don’t have growth.
You just have activity. So, retention means closing that hole.
You’re always gonna have a little bit of a leaky bucket, but closing
making that hole as small as possible and making sure you’re pouring way more
in than is flowing out. So, duplication and retention. Now I got a question to ask
