GSA Welcomes Veterans to the Federal Marketplace

Greetings veterans, from
the United States General Services Administration! We welcome you back from
active duty and thank you for your service to
our great nation. As you make the transition
from military to civilian life, you may be thinking, “How can
I use the skills I learned in the military, with my life
skills from prior to my service, in this new chapter of my life?” You may want to consider
starting your own businesses in industries that use
skills such as electrical, HVAC technician, mechanical,
plumbing, construction, IT, and security as well as others. This is where GSA may help you. As the federal government’s
business and real estate manager, GSA
contracts for a wide variety of products and services,
including construction, supplies, infrastructure,
building maintenance, and professional and
technical consulting. Our mission is to deliver value
and savings in real estate, acquisition, technology,
and other services that support federal government
agencies, so they can focus on carrying out their missions. Why does GSA want
to work with you? Because we strongly value your
experience, training, insights, and leadership, and
the sacrifices that you have made
for our country. The federal government has even
set goals to ensure that small, disadvantaged, women-owned and service-disabled
veteran-owned businesses will get their fair share of work
in the federal marketplace. Once your business
is up and running, GSA would like to
partner with you. Here’s how: GSA’s Office of
Small Business Utilization, or OSBU, is the federal
government’s chief advocate for small and disadvantaged
businesses. As such, OSBU can
help you gain access to GSA’s nationwide
procurement opportunities. OSBU holds events to help
educate small businesses about the federal
procurement process, facilitates introductions
for you with key contracting experts, and OSBU provides
counseling services. At GSA, we save taxpayers’
millions of dollars through better management
of federally owned and leased real estate,
equipment, and supplies. You can take advantage
of this opportunity. The federal government
has the potential to become your biggest customer. We encourage you
to get on board. For more information on
doing business with GSA, please visit
gsa.gov/small-business and check out the videos under
“Resources and Training”. Thank you for your
time today and, again, thank you for your service. We look forward to
doing business with you!
