How to Update Your Financial Information on the Health Insurance Marketplace

Health insurance open enrollment ends on February
15th, so if you enrolled in a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace last year,
there are simple steps you can take now to ensure you have the best plan for your family
in 2015 and save as much money as possible. It’s important to go back into the Health
Insurance Marketplace to report any changes in your income or household size, even if
you stay on the same health plan. A lot can change in a year. Maybe you got married or
had a baby or you got a raise. All of these changes can effect the cost of your insurance
premiums and how much financial help you may be eligible for. Another reason to update
your information, the formula for determining what financial support you might be eligible
for changes each year. That’s likely to impact how much you’ll pay for your plan,
even if nothing about your situation changed. If the subsidy calculated for last year differs
for 2015, that can also impact your taxes.
