link below, in the show notes for this video. What is branding and why do you care? Isn’t it just important to be on YouTube,
maybe work your social media to get your videos out there, and otherwise do your thing? Dancing. Singing or rapping. Tutorials. Gaming. You know the deal. You’re busy trying to be a star. And all of this branding stuff sounds boring,
like homework. Yuck! But it’s important because if you don’t
have your branding on lock, do you? You won’t have a strong enough presence
online for people to want to bother with your business or work in the first place. It’s like playing darts and not knowing
where the center of the target is. You’re just flinging out material and it’s
not really connecting with the people the way you thought. So, as part of our branding basics series,
let’s just focus on what a brand is right now. The next videos in the series will help you
really make your brand work for you. So be sure you subscribe because you don’t
want to miss a single part of this series! A brand is an experience that you give your
followers. Nope. I’m not kidding. That’s what it is. But there’s more to that definition than
meets the eye! First, you have to know who you’re creating
the experience for. As in, who’s showing up to see you star
in your own show, my Showstopper. And then, WHY are they showing up? So we’re going to have a video for each
of these elements, to really break them down. What I want you to know is that if you try
to sell to everyone, you’re selling to no one. When someone shows up to your YouTube video
or otherwise is exposed to the show that is you and your content, they have to say to
themselves…. I’m in the right place! But how do you get people to think THAT? You have to decide who your target audience
is. No, I’m not kidding. In fact, this decision is the most important
one you’ll make, because you won’t succeed if you don’t get this laser specific on
who your audience is. As they say, the confused don’t buy. Even if you’re not selling a physical product
right now, but just your videos on YouTube, or your rapping, singing, whatever, doesn’t
matter. Your vibe attracts your tribe. But you can’t put out the vibe if you don’t
know what kind of tribe you’re trying to attract. So why don’t you think long and hard about
specifically WHO you’re trying to attract, WHAT you’re trying to sell them on, WHAT
they’re going to get if they buy it and WHY they’d want to buy from you instead
of someone else. The next video in this series will help you
get more specific, but right now, just brainstorm and see what your gut tells you first. Because until you get very specific about
what your brand experience is and who it’s for, you’re just a face in the crowd, like
everyone else, shouting to get noticed and no one’s listening to you. You can have all the talent in the world,
but everyone’s online now. That’s sadly not enough. You can have all the tech tricks and tricks
up your sleeve to help you optimize your presence, but that’s STILL not enough. You have to put your brand FIRST. Everything else is influenced by that. Kid or adult, it doesn’t matter. You have to master this concept OR be drowned
out by the crowd. Now you know what a brand is and know that
you have to work on what your brand is, what kind of experience you need to deliver and
who specifically should want it and why. And you know you’ve got to keep watching
