Q&A with Joyce: Sharesies’ Operations and Finance Intern 2019/2020

Working at Sharesies is like… I do not want to put it like just fun, but it was very fun. Like going to meet up with your friends and just working on a project or something like that. My name is Joyce Mgendi. I’m from Tanzania but I grew up in Botswana and I study at AUT. I’m studying Accounting and Finance. I’ve been working with the Operations team and my day to day work was just doing deposits and withdrawls just approving them. Other workplaces you always have to report what you’re doing where you’re going and everything but at Sharesies you’re trusted like whatever you’re doing and whatever hours you’re working that you’re able to like meet the work requirement I guess and you’re able to do your work. So for example every Wednesdays I play netball and my lunch hour is like over 30 minutes but at the same time Sharesies trusts me that I’ll be able to do my workload and finish it on that day. Sharesies they trust you and it’s just a you do you kind of policy so yeah.
