The Marketing Manager: Hanna’s Story

♪ (Music Playing) ♪ So my name is Hanna Darmody, and I studied a Diploma of Marketing at the Canberra Institute of Technology and I was awarded the 2015 ACT Vocational Student of the Year. I work for my family business, which is Bungendore Country Butchery and Wynella Pastoral Holdings. I decided to pursue a vocational education and training course because I wanted to add self-value to myself and my family business. I thought it was important to bring something to the table and offer something to my parents for them to employ me. I think my VET qualification has benefited me in a lot of ways. I’ve been able to take what I learnt from the classroom and put it into everyday life, not only in the workplace but also in my personal life. A lot of the skills that you learn are relevant in a lot of fields in life. I would recommend a vocational education journey to anyone. I think that the experience that you gain and the skills that you learn is something that you can implement in your everyday life. In our industry we need people that are VET trained. We don’t need people with a degree in economics. We need someone who we can bring into our industry, have the skills that we can train them in our industry or at a bricklayer or a carpenter or whatever is required, and they are the skills that you get through VET training. ♪ (Music Playing) ♪
