YouTube Video SEO: How I Got Over 25,000 Subscribers on YouTube This Year | 5 Video Marketing Tips

– Do you wanna be popular on YouTube? It’s not possible unless you
have a ton of subscribers. Without the subscribers, you’re not gonna become
popular on YouTube. But you’re starting from scratch. How do you get popular
without spending money on ads? Hey, everyone, I’m Neil Patel, and today I’m gonna share with you how to generate over 25,000 subscribers on YouTube in less than a year. (bright music) The first thing you need to know is your content has to be super emotional. Just look at this video. I’m emotional when I speak and talk, not because I’m trying
to do it on purpose, but it’s because I’m super passionate about entrepreneurship and marketing. If you’re not passionate
about your content, it’s gonna come across, and
people are gonna see you on your YouTube channel talking like, hello, hey, today I’m gonna
teach you about marketing. That’s not emotional. No one wants to listen and follow that. They’re just gonna bounce back and exit. So if your content’s not
emotional, you won’t do well. The next tip I have for you
is you have to tell people to subscribe to your channel. When they’re out there, they’re listening to your YouTube video. You have to tell ’em to subscribe. Just like right now, I’m gonna tell you, subscribe to my YouTube channel. If you don’t I’m gonna be
super sad, so please subscribe. And even at the end of your videos, also tell ’em to subscribe. At the end of my videos,
I started adding that. I didn’t have that on my earlier videos, but when I started adding
that I noticed a huge increase on how many subscribers I was getting. It was roughly three times more. That’s crazy. All by telling people
at the end of the video to subscribe the exit
screen and the design which you can see right here, it makes it easier to get subscribers. The next thing you wanna do
is use the right keywords. You can use tools like Google
Trends to see what’s popular. Google Keyword Traffic Estimator, or Google Keyword Planner
technically, right? But either way, it’ll tell
you what keywords are popular, the searches they’re getting. I also use Ubersuggest. It gives me more keyword
ideas for my ideas. And this all tells me what
keywords to put in my title, my descriptions, so that way
my videos get more views. Here’s the other thing that people don’t tell you about YouTube. You know when you’re watching a video? You would think that
YouTube can figure out what your content’s about, because when I put in the little CC, it automatically starts
putting in subtitles. And here’s the thing, yes, YouTube’s good at picking up what you’re
saying in your videos, but it’s not 100%. So unless you upload a transcript, your video’s not gonna rank as high and you’re not gonna get as many views. And if you don’t get as many
views, what’s gonna happen? You’re not gonna get as many subscribers. The next thing you wanna do
is go hit up other bloggers who are writing similar content about the videos you’re producing and hit them up and ask
them to embed your videos. It’s really simple. You go to BuzzSumo, you type in keywords
related to your videos. It’ll show you the popular articles, and you wanna shoot an email to the person who wrote that article. Hey John, I love your
content, but you know what? Some people are visual learners. I actually created a video that’s inspired by your latest blog post. I was wondering would
you mind embedding it? So by getting more people
to embed your videos, you’re gonna get external traffic. And as you get external traffic, you’ll notice that your videos do better and get higher rankings. The last tip I have for you is make sure your videos
are super long and engaging. If you’re not showing emotion and engaging throughout your video or if your videos aren’t long,
they’re not gonna do well. Just go check out my
earlier YouTube videos. Some are two minutes, three
minutes, four minutes. Some are even one minute. You know what happens when
a video is really short? YouTube doesn’t give it much clout, your channel won’t do as well, and all of your videos won’t rank as high or getting as many suggestions, right? You know once you’re
done watching a video, you see more suggested videos? Well, the key to doing well on YouTube is to have a super long video. I’m not saying 30, 40 minutes. Anything five or six
minutes plus is great. Anything less than that is
really hard to rank high unless you’re going after
terms that aren’t competitive, which means it’s not gonna
generate much traffic and you wouldn’t get subscribers. So make sure your videos
are over five minute long. If you follow those tips, you’ll do well. Or if you don’t have time
and you’re a business, you can check out
companies like Viewership which do YouTube consulting, and they’ll teach you and
actually do all the work for you and add in the keywords
and the transcripts, so that way your YouTube videos get way more traffic and traction. You can get over 25,000
subscribers in less than a year. And you know what? I can’t end the video without
saying make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel. And if you’re on Facebook or LinkedIn, of course follow my page, my channel, subscribe, leave a comment,
like, share the video. All of this helps get more traction no matter who social network you’re trying to become more popular on. So follow those tips and you’ll do well.

  3. Hey Niel, how's it going? I had a quick question about the part where you mentioned videos should be 5 minutes or longer. I'm a music producer and I post my instrumentals to YouTube for extra traffic and my beats are not that long (3-4 minutes). Is there a way to still have a successful YouTube channel with this small setback?

  4. I liked tip#5 a lot. I think it's brilliant. Another video that I would luv to see you make is how to be so energetic in ur videos! Some of us do not have this energy and enthusiasm throughout the day and sometimes when it is time to. Make the video ur Newry level is not that high so. Any tips on that would. Help. Thanks Neil!

  7. Hi Neil, I love what you do and have always been admirative of your writing and your work on your personal blog and on Quicksprout. On the videos, I love the content but I have some trouble with you screaming or being so loud. It doesn't seem to be the natural you. It seems you try to imitate Derek Halprem or GaryVee creating a loud & strong caracter. Just be yourself, you're so good that you don't need to be someone else on camera ;-). CHeers from Switzerland

  17. Hi Neil, It may seem like a silly question but I can't figure out how to send emails to people who are blogging about topics relevant to my videos on buzzsumo? Is there a way to find their email id's. Thanks.

  20. Thanks Neil, I really need this! Seo and Ranking really rocks! This is the video that I really since I still have 2 subscribers. I'll use ubersuggest too and extend my videos 5 mins. and above 🙂 I really like it because you some combined blogging and youtube.. oh by the way about your call to action.. I think you might need to add " Subscribe to my channel and click on the bell Icon to receive new updates for my videos" Buy I'm still confuse on that speil though… once again Thank you so much Master Neil…. 🙂

  24. hi Neil Patel, just started learning from your videos and realized that you can do much more on the internet rather than just a YouTube. However my question is related to YouTube video embedding.Should we do embedding our self or by others or both .I have motivational channel and giving some different and unique content so please advice accordingly.Thank you in advance.

  25. Hey Neil, re SEO, if I typed in the key phrase low carb diet or low calorie diet youtube used to show the amount of results (422,000). Does this function no longer exist and does this matter for SEO? Cheers, Ste

  26. Do you know if going back and rewriting your Youtube video descriptions will hurt your video rankings, if you already have views and watch-time?

  27. Thanks a lot for the helpful video. Some people say if you're a small youtube channel you should go for keywords and titles that are not crowded ( to rank high ). But as you said that doesn't lead to much traffic. Do you recommend small youtubers to create good content first and challenge the crowd? Or stay in the blue ocean with low traffic? Would love to hear your opinion!

  28. I'm trying to relaunch my old YouTube channel with the new topic (before I've used it for unlisted content for my courses). But I was told, that if the channel didn't have many subscribers before, it will be hard to relaunch it and it's better to start all over again with a fresh new, is that true? Do I need to start a new channel?

  29. Which platform you use for YouTube promotion? Which works best for you? Please share with the community. Thank you.

  30. Thanks I found this video had a lot of value sharing all the tips of making YouTube Video. I was about to do a video for the first time, was not sure where to start, but this certainly gave me a bigger picture
